Author Mark Sullivan on “The Last Green Valley”

Welcome Mark Sullivan:

We’re joined on the Starline by an avid reader who dreamed of writing. Once an investigative journalist now an award winning, best-selling author. His latest novel is “The Last Green Valley” we welcome Mark Sullivan.

Mark, let’s go Beyond the Mic. You’ve written for newspapers as an investigative reporter. What is the one thing that ties a story completely together?

You moved to Wyoming and discovered extreme skiers which helped inspire you to write “The Fall Line”, a New York Times notable book of the year. How has your writing style changed in the last 25 years?

“The Last Green Valley” continues the historical fiction you’ve written in Wyoming and Montana. When you first discovered the Martel story, why was important for you bringing their story, even though fictionalized, to life?

The Rockin’ 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions; answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Which souvenirs did you sell the most when you worked at Fenway?

2. Do you write manuscripts first on paper, or on the computer?

3. Where do you get most of your writing done?

4. Least favorite CrossFit activity?

5. Where was the last place you went skiing?

6. Favorite place to travel?

7. First section you read in a newspaper?

8. Who influenced your life the most?

How has talking with the Martel’s in your research for this book changed you?

When writing, do you look for an overarching story to begin with, or follow where the story takes you?

One Big Question

You’ve written about the “Scarlet Sky.” But we want to know where your “Green Valley” is?

What’s your next project?

Where can people find you online?
