Author Carleton Eastlake on “Monkey Business”

Welcome Carleton:

We’re joined on the Starline by a man with an interesting history. He ran the largest nightclub operation in Boston and once joined the Federal Trade Commission as well as a novelist, writer-producer and public policy lawyer. His book “Monkey Business” is out. We welcome Carleton Eastlake.

Carleton, let’s go Beyond the Mic. How does the insanity of Monkey Business match what really happens in Hollywood? Every time I turned the page of the book, I was ‘that couldn’t happen, well it is Hollywood’.

Life is stranger than what we believe. How many Nicole types are there in Hollywood now?

You’ve written for “The Equalizer” and “The Outer Limits” among other shows how fun was it to create your own world rather than living in someone else’s?

On Social Media you recently posted “My publisher and PR rep both told me I must go to 5 bookstores and give them copies and convince them I am a genius.” How did that go? Were you able to convince them?

The Rockin’ 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions; answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Favorite type of tree at your farm?

2. There’s a paint ball game in the book, have you ever played paint ball?

3. Best place in Hollywood to get something to eat?

4. Favorite TV show you haven’t written for?

5. You Co-Executive produced seaQuest, last time you were in a submarine / naval ?

6. Favorite comfort food?

7. Thing you do that drives your wife crazy?

8. Last time you got a residual check and do you remember from which show?

One Big Question:

Is there a competition between your wife and you now to write the book that sells the most, since she has already written 3 best sellers?

The Wrap:

He owns a typewriter signed by Tom Hanks, embedded with a frigate and is a neat freak. His book “Monkey Business” is out now. We thank Author Carleton Eastlake for taking the time to talk with us today.
