Captain Sig Hansen from FV/ Northwestern & “Deadliest Catch”

Welcome Sig Hansen:

We’re joined on the Starline by author and captain of the legendary Northwestern on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch”. We welcome Sig Hansen.

Sig, let’s go Beyond the Mic. You’ve been fishing since you were 14. How has your love of fishing changed over the years?

Has technology changed the amount of time you spend out for you to fish your quota?

This year the red king crab fishery was closed in Alaska. Your family has depended on it for part of your income. Why did you believe that taking the chance to fish in Norway was the best option for your family?

Who mentored you fishing growing up and how did that experience changed the way you mentored others?

The Rockin’ 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions; answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Favorite meal your wife cooks when you get home?

2. Nickname your grandkids have given you?

3. Which is better, an Alaskan Sunrise or a Norwegian sunset?

4. Last movie you saw?

5. One thing you always get when shopping at the grocery store?

6. Favorite place to vacation?

7. When you are home and it’s just you, what do you love to do?

8. What would you do if money wasn’t an object, you had everything you needed to live?

Fans have seen the good, the bad and the ugly on Deadliest Catch. But what is your best memory?

One Big Question:

How has your wife’s cancer diagnosis and eventual cancer free change the way you see your life on the seas?

The Wrap:

Captain Sig Hansen is still fishing on the Northwestern, wants to see Top Gun Maverick and is a couch potato. Check him out on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch”. Sig, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.
