Author Peggy Rowe on “Vacuuming in the Nude”

Welcome Peggy:

We’re joined on the Starline by an educator and New York Times bestseller. Both of her books were published after the age of eighty. She writes every day, occasionally giving constructive criticism to her son Mike because of his Dirty Jobs. We welcome author of “Vacuuming in the Nude” Peggy Rowe.

Peggy, let’s go Beyond the Mic. You’ve written all your life, sending manuscript after manuscript to publishing houses that politely said no for 60 years. After 2 bestselling books and on the way to a third, why does writing give you joy?

Your entire family are voracious readers, but what’s your favorite book of all time? What do you like to read?

Who doesn’t love laughter? When you heard applause for the first time for your poem “Too Real” you said you could still hear it when you went to dinner. Why is the sound of applause so wonderful?

Did you consider sending rejections to all the publishers who rejected you over the years?

Now with your appearance, you are the 1st Mother / Son duo to be on the show. We have had Mike on the show and he said ‘you should hear my mom’. What’s the story you want to tell next?

Your family has supported your writing through rejections and success. How has their support helped you?

One Big Question:

How do you want people to remember you?

The Wrap:

Her latest book is “Vacuuming in the Nude” an assortment of incredibly funny stories about life with some doozies about her son Mike and putting her publisher on hold to finish a game of mah-jongg. We thank author Peggy Rowe for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
