He loves pizza from the mess hall, a great wave, and he wants you to read “Surf When You Can” Author Ret. Captain Brett Crozier joins us for a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
Welcome Brett:
We’re joined on the Starline by a retired captain in the United States Navy. A Naval Academy graduate who was known as “Chopper” when he piloted F-18’s, helicopters and was commanding officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt. His memoir “Surf When You Can: Lessons in Life, Loyalty and Leadership From A Maverick Navy Captain” is out now. We welcome Ret. Captain Brett Corzier.
Brett, let’s go Beyond the Mic. Your sailors were always your 1st priority. They thanked you for your loyalty by standing at full attention, cheering and chanting your name as you left your ship. What did these men and women mean to you?
In “Surf When You Can” you break down lessons you learned through your years in the Navy. Which lesson almost made the book, but you left it out for one reason or another?
“It’s okay to fail and to be less than perfect, as long as you don’t give up and you continue to push your own limits.” Looking toward your future. How do you want to help others push their limits?
The Rockin’ 8:
It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions; answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.
1. Favorite thing from the mess hall?
2. Last time you talked with your best friend was when?
3. Your best challenge coin you’ve ever received?
4. Favorite overseas port?
5. When was the last room you painted in your house?
6. Best thing about your wife Mary?
7. After this entire experience, how did you find serenity?
8. Where was your favorite hiding / quiet place on the Theodore Roosevelt?
One Big Question:
You have been mentored by Captain Chris Bolt and mentored others. Why is accepting help and offering help not only make others better, but you better?
