You’ve seen him on “Kojak,” “Colombo,” “Police Story” and the critically acclaimed role as Sgt. John Taggart in Beverly Hills Cop I & II and Midnight Run. We welcome John Ashton.

Let’s go Beyond the Mic, John your latest film has been picking up awards all over. What made playing Smoke in “Once Upon a River” the role for you?

You’ve been playing characters since you were 14. What lesser known role in your career was your favorite?

Your character Smoke in “Once Upon a River” says “Why does anybody help anybody?”  How have you helped people along your acting career?

If you could have one more scene with an actor who is not here anymore who would it be?

How has acting evolved from when you started to today?

Graduate of USC School of Theatre and still working to today, what drives you each day?

Was there someone that you would have liked to act with that you haven’t been able to yet?

Your own motto is “Think Big, Work Hard, Have a Dream, and Make a Difference”? As you enter the golden years of your life, do you feel you still have more to offer?
