We’re joined on the Starline by the president and co-founder of Tompkins Conservation. She has spent decades protecting the wild. Oscar-winning filmmakers Jimmy Chin and his wife Chai created the documentary feature “Wild Life” on NatGeo or Hulu. We welcome the topic of the feature, Kris Thompkins.

Kris, let’s go Beyond the Mic. You have protected the land for decades. You were one of the 1st six employees of Patagonia. Why was creating national parks throughout Chile and Argentina important to you?

14.8 million acres of parklands created in Chile & Argentina. To put it into perspective, the entire country of Belize is 4 million acres and West Virginia is 15.5 million acres.

How was this ambitious and controversial conversation project started?

How did your husband and your passion to restore the land grow and give your joy over these years?
