Tasting Life with Phil and Lily Rosenthal: A Family’s Foodie Journey with “Just Try It”

Dive into a delightful culinary conversation with Phil and Lily Rosenthal on our latest podcast episode. Discover the inspiration behind their new book “Just Try It” and why embracing new foods is a metaphor for life.

Welcome Phil and Lily

We’re joined on the Starline by a Hollywood power family. One is an author who created “Somebody Feed Phil” and “Everybody Loves Raymond”. The other is an actor, writer and producer. You put them together with food and you get the new book “Just Try It”. We welcome Phil and Lily Rosenthal.

Friends, let’s go Beyond the Mic. I could have used this book 15 years ago. My son would only eat hot dogs and ramen growing up.  Why was writing this book important for both of you?

Lily, how hard did you make your parents’ life growing up?

Phil, for someone who loves food so much, what’s the one food that you tried once and said, “ehhhh that’s enough!”

The Rockin’ 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure. Since we have two guests we’ll alternate questions.

1. Lily, favorite way you enjoy a hamburger?

2. Phil, country you want to visit again?

3. Lily, which food did your dad give you to try growing up that even today you couldn’t believe you enjoyed!

4. Phil, do you prefer the mountains or the beach?

5. Lily, favorite Justin Bieber song?

6. Phil, what will be your signature dish at Max and Helen’s?

7. Lily, what’s your must have item on a charcuterie tray?

8. Phil, best thing about your son?

Two Big Questions:

Lily: You once said “Thank you for teaching me everything, i wanna be just like you.” What’s the biggest lesson he ever taught you?

Phil: When you see the success from your daughter with her “Liv a Lil” nonprofit helping organizations. What’s do you see in her future?

The Wrap:

Phil wants to revisit Japan, Lily has to have raw onion on her hamburger and they want you to read their book “Just Try It”. Phil Rosenthal, Lily Rosenthal thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
