Todd Borek is a broadcast meteorologist working at The Weather Channel. Currently, you can hear him on numerous stations across the nation with The Weather Channel Radio Network. He is also a freelance on-air meteorologist on The Weather Channel’s TV network, The Weather Channel’s OTT streaming app, Local Now as well as WAGA Fox-5 Atlanta. Before working at The Weather Channel, Todd’s on-air meteorology career took him to various small and mid-sized TV stations around the US along with a 2-year stint as a weather producer at CNN.


Born and raised in Metro Detroit, Todd is a lifelong Detroit sports fan and realizes the Detroit Lions will never reach the Super Bowl. He graduated from Michigan State University.

As a member of the Wyandot Middle School Wall of Fame, you excelled in three sports… other than baseball what was the other two?

You’re a reformed comedian, gave it up to be a serious weather man and also for your family, what do you miss about being a comedian?

If that was the worse set you did, where was the best place you did a set at.

There’s the American Model , the European Model, the throw it at the wall and see if it sticks, the Color by Numbers Meteorological Model. How frustrating when only one of those models is going to be right?

You believe in nurturing the future of your craft by talking with students about meteorology, what’s the 1st question you always get asked?

10% of your work time is the actual on air presentation of your forecast. 90% of the time you are creating the graphics and re-examining data. So what was the one thing that took you the longest time to master in your craft?

Why are you a meteorologist?

If there was a game show from the past that you would have liked to be a part of which would have been?

Since you are from Michigan, I have to ask you about your fandom of the Detroit Lions. What was so special about your first NFL football game?

We both love great sports moments. We’ve seen special games in person. The good for me was Nolan Ryan’s 7th no hitter, the worst game for me The Drive. Which the one special game you were at will you tell anyone anytime about good or bad??

You didn’t even blink when I brought up the weekend ahead pirate reference from your past. That says something.

I always love to know about the people who mentor interesting people. Who has taken you under their wing and who do you like to mentor?
