Welcome Alex Winter
We’re joined on the Starline by an actor, producer and director. You’ve seen him in “The Lost Boys” and as the most excellent Bill S Preston Esquire. His latest project is directing “Zappa” we welcome Alex Winter
Let’s go Beyond the Mic, since Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, you’ve spent time behind the camera doing mostly voice work and directing documentaries. Why do you enjoy directing so much?
“Zappa” was made because of the generosity of Gail Zappa allowing you into the archival vault footage of Frank. What did you discover in search through those vast archives?
How were you able to take this mountain and weed it down to what you wanted to show, especially with the not safe for work videos and simple pictures of LA?
When someone else other than you and your team was able to see Zappa and said oh wow, how did that make you feel?
From you’re your experiences opposite Yul Brenner in the King and I on Broadway you created “Showbiz Kids” which allowed you to show some of the things you had to deal with as a child actor.
What strength have you discovered in your path from child actor to actor to director as a person?
Speaking of traumatic, we’re all dealing with trauma during the COVID-19 times. What have you discovered about yourself during this quarantine?
