Welcome Hans Aschim:

We’re joined on the Starline by a journalist and an adventurer who has seen 11 foot waves on an 11 foot paddle board. “How to Go Anywhere (and Not Get Lost)” is his 1st book and we welcome Hans Aschim.

Hans, let’s go Beyond the Mic you’ve covered surfing, skating and travel. Why was a book for kids the next step other than write this book?

You live in New York City with your wife and animals. What things did you do so you could survive the quarantine and thrive?

You show children instruction making a stick chart, star clock, chip log, pace count beads and sextant. Why are these so important tools for kids right now?

Currently kids have their phones permanently attached to their face. What are the important things for kids to learn now that they haven’t?

“How to Go Anywhere (and Not Get Lost)” is his book. Author Hans Aschim is the Author & we’re Beyond the Mic. You have a Master of Science focused in Health, Population and Society from London School of Economics and Political Science and Bachelors of Arts (BA) in Journalism and African Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Cape Town. How did you go from there to writing about ancient explorers and a book for kids?
