Mary Beth Webber from Fiddler on the Roof

Welcome Mary Beth Webber

We’re joined on the Starline by a newcomer to the national tour scene from regional theater. Her first role is Yente, the matchmaker in the touring Fiddler on the Roof. We welcome Mary Beth Webber.

Mary Beth, let’s go Beyond the Mic. How special is it to work with your daughter Rosie on this national tour?

Now do you get your own room, or do they stick you two together? We can save money if we stick you together…

Talk about your love of theater from portraying Elsa in the Sound of Music to Mama Noah in Children of Eden.

It’s not a matter of just loving theater but imparting that love to others. Broadway shows helped influenced you growing up. For me it’s 1776, The Pajama Game etc. Which ones helped your love of theater?

You have said “Creativity is much more than just a skill you list on a resume; I believe it’s a way of life.” How has your creativity been tested as a prevention educator for Child Abuse Prevention Services of Tuscaloosa?

What is the one story from your time there that may have helped you influence the future? Telling a child if I can do it so can you and was there one child that touched you?

How has performing helped your soul?

The Rockin’ 8:

It’s time to match you up with the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions; answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. What is your dream role?

2. Other than your daughter, who gives you support on the road?

3. Have you ever staged an intervention and for what?

4. What was the last book you read for pleasure? Are you a fan of e-books, hardbacks or softbacks, do you like to hold onto it?

5. How did you meet your husband and who played matchmaker for you?

6. What celebrity’s house would you love to take a tour of?

7. Favorite on Broadway show that you haven’t done?

The Back Half:

How did you get into theater and do you remember the first role?

After winning the Helen Osband award for excellence in theater at Alabama, you have helped others with your work with CPS and Magic If Entertainment. Looking back, would you change anything?

What was the biggest challenge of raising 7 daughters?

What are their ranges of their ages?

How were your emotions of your first show with the entire family?

If this was a dream your entire life and you put it to the background so you could raise 7 daughters, why did you audition?

So what was your favorite moment from New York?

What’s the most difficult part of this tour?

Who on Broadway now inspires you?

Favorite moment of the show?

Talk about the cast. It’s not just you family on the road. They are truly special to you?

So who is the next star we will be talking about?

What is in your future after this role?

One Big Question:

How has this experience changed you for today, for your future and for your love of theater?

Where can people find you online?
