Welcome Tanya
We’re joined on the Starline by a travel industry veteran who has worked at hotels, ski resorts and aboard the ships of major cruise lines. Her first book “All Over the Map: Two Lovers, Six Continents and a Date with Destiny” is out. We welcome Tanya Zaufi
Let’s go Beyond the Mic. Tanya, you’ve always enjoyed travel. As a youth you were accepted into a two-year travel consultant program at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton. What did your time as part of that program teach you?
10 years as part of cruise ships, what was your first job on the ship and what was your last job?
You’ve had opportunities travelling around the world. Where are some of the places you’ve traveled?
How did you feel leaving home and your family support your adventures, missing holidays but making great friends and people.
The book is “All Over the Map: Two Lovers, Six Continents and a Date with Destiny” and the author Tanya Zaufi joins us Beyond the Mic. And then you met him… talk about the love of your life and how a ship safety drill changed your lives?
First it was an introduction, then time at the staff bar, then going out on expeditions. How fast did you both of you fell in love?
Tanya, you were from Canada and him from Austria. When you separated how tough was it it for you?
Two years a long distance relationship, you kept a long distance relationship for two years?
What’s the biggest misconception of the travel industry?
So the afterhours parties, drinking, the hook ups those are all true?
Why was writing this book so important to you Tanya?
How is watching the cruise industry suffer during the COVID-19 pandemic feel to you?
The Rockin’ 8
Tanya, time is running out, so it’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind.
There is no Pressure.
1. Best boat you were ever on and why?
2. Favorite and least favorite place to travel to?
3. Favorite dessert? With your husband being a pastry chef, he had to have made you something incredible.
4. Best place on the boat that few people know of?
5. Which island do you consider a hidden gem?
6. Guilty pleasure on board?
7. Favorite item to cozy up with? And you can’t say your husband
8. Best holiday tradition from your family?
