Let’s go Beyond the Mic. Thirteen years ago a birthday cake gave your daughter a severe allergic reaction.
Your pinterest page is filled with fashion, encouragement and a lot of odd egg photography.
Since she was 3 you nightly told her the story of “Nutley the Nut-Free Squirrel” and the story became not just a family one but a book where 100% of the proceeds go to FARE dedicated to food allergy research and education. Why was that important for you?

Your latest book is “Am I a Unicorn?” It’s a heartfelt story about who we all are inside. Who were you writing this story for? There is a pattern in your books where you are either getting an emotion out or teaching a lesson.
There are a recipe for some tasty YOUnique cupcakes at the back of the book, why was blending a children’s story and food necessary for you?
How has writing these books and now reading them to classes virtually help feed your soul?

Her fourth and latest book,“Am I A Unicorn?” released on December 8, 2020, to educate children on the value of acceptance and the beauty in differences. A member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Ms. Sorkin donates a portion of her books proceeds to various charities supporting children. Ms. Sorkin has appeared in the New York Times Style Section and written numerous articles for national publications. As a food allergy advocate, she spends her time visiting schools in the tri-state area, discussing the inspiration behind her books and the importance of creativity. Stephanie lives in New York with her husband and 3 kids.
